How to Prevent Data Loss During Recordings

Configuration and Methodology Recommendations

To ensure data integrity and avoid data loss during recordings, please follow the recommendations below.

1. Device Usage (EEG and Other Biosignal Devices)

Fully charge the device before recording

Make sure the biosignal device battery is fully charged before starting a recording. Do not begin sessions with a low battery level, as this may affect data quality and recording integrity.

Do not record while charging the amplifier

Do not use the biosignal device while it is connected to the charger. Charging during recording may introduce artifacts and increase the risk of data loss.

Enable MicroSD recording if needed

Enable data backup on the MicroSD card. This ensures that data is stored there even if Bluetooth connectivity is temporarily lost.

2. Acquisition System Configuration to Avoid Interruptions

Verify system requirements

Before recording, ensure that the selected PC or Surface meets the system requirements described in the following Help Center article: SennsLite Installation requirements.

Please note that when using a BLE device, a Windows acquisition system running Windows 11 or later is recommended.

Disable sleep and screen timeout

The screen must remain on during the entire recording session. Any sleep or suspension mode should be disabled to prevent data loss. Generally, this can be configured in the operating system Power & battery settings.

Ensure continuous power supply

The acquisition system used for recording (PC, Surface, laptop, etc.) must be connected to a power source or have sufficient battery for the entire session to prevent unexpected shutdowns.

Pause automatic updates

Before starting a recording, access system settings and pause automatic updates to avoid unexpected restarts or interruptions during the session. This option can generally be found in the operating system update settings.

3. Additional Recommendations

Review the SennsLite User Guide and follow all instructions step by step for recording, importing, and exporting data. Always rely on the official SennsLite documentation throughout the entire process. Go to the following Download Center link for more information: Bitbrain SennsLite.

Please note that keeping the software up to date is recommended, as newer versions (available at the previous Download Center link) include improvements and additional features. However, if you are actively collecting data for an ongoing project, it is recommended to postpone the update until the project has been completed.
